Fragments Translated by William Wilson Collection XI Fragment 14 “Our heart is enlarged.” For as heat is wont to expand, so also love. For love is a thing of warmth. As if he would say, I love you not only with mouth, but with heart, and have you all within. Wherefore he says: “ye are not straitened in us, since desire itself expands the soul.” “Our heart is enlarged” to teach you all things; “but ye are straitened in your own bowels,” that is, in love to God, in which you ought to love me. Thus Clement, in the fourth book of the Hypotyposes.
